Southeast Idaho’s lush green valleys and wetlands nestle in mountain vistas to form optimal locations for over 45 Birdwatching sites in the region. While you can spot birds year round, birding peaks in March and April during early spring migration.
Find geese, mallards, pintails, cranes, ibis, ducks, gulls, herons, egrets, and many more waterfowl and migratory birds at sanctuaries and wildlife refuges from Bear Lake to Bear River and Grays Lake to Snake River. Great for beginning and avid birders.

Travel the Idaho Gold Road History Tour and learn about gold prospectors, the railroad, fur trappers, and the Oregon Trail emigrants.
The Gold Road developed after gold was discovered in Montana’s Grasshopper Creek in 1862 and Virginia City in 1883. These 200 miles through eastern Idaho became a lifeline for the mines and the hundreds to thousands working there, with gold on one end and food and supplies on the other.
